So most every Friday you will find the Pirate Boat parked down at Big Daddies round 7pm. So far been very lucky to find a spot next to the dock and outdoor kitchen!!
We never know who or "what' ha ha, will show up - we just put out an open invitaion and if our boat doesn't go, another one will!! Sometimes our boat looks like a Cuban refugee boat, and other times an intimate crowd. All I DO know is - with a cooler of cold drinks, awesome Big Daddies outdoor food, sitting on the boat with good friends is ALWAYS a good time!!
Each Friday is different. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. Everyone takes turns being in the spot light. For instance, last night Hieka was in a very good mood so she kept the singing going with her yodeling!! :) (Heika is German.) Everyone hovered around our jam box and sang songs lighting our IPhones waving our arms... which on the lake might not seem so smart but at the time ... awesome!!! The girls always show up festive, last night Debbie ahd on a very "bedazzled" ballcap which was cute. Jake & I usually sport the "Pirate" motife. :) We celebrated Adele's bday too!! Bathing suits are a must however most do not even get wet!!
Last night the power was out in Grapevine and Big Daddies could not serve his yummy food everyone was expecting, so we made do with jello shots and Big Daddies oyster shooters. What a combo!! On sea I fear oysters and jello shots might be too much for even Dramamine, however on the calm lake, no one was sick or drunk for that matter. Actually it is rare that someone over does it. It is a pretty awesome group!!
Around 9pm, the boat pushes off dock and we go just past the dock near the tires. Jeff & Julie, Mark Powers, Randy & Kim, Tracy Honeycut, and other boats sometimes tie up!! The kids swim, the adults dance and visit... and we have a fun party place on the water. (Most adults do not get wet at all!!) Then we hear the first "POP" and the attention turns to the shore about 800 yards away from the floatilla!! We all "ohhh and ahhh" over this amazing light show in the air!! Which by the way every Friday is different!! Last night one set of lights went up blue and at the end the blue changed into a red. It was cool. Our group I can tell watches in amazement!
But I think more then anything - during that time of the blazing diamond rockets in the sky, we take time to realize how strangely and wonderfly blessed we are beyond measure to have such an amazing group of friends!
Each Friday we say, "Should we do something else tonight?" And we look at each other and say, "Nahhhh, nothing beats floating on the lake, fantastick firework, and friendship!!
